Meg Ryan, the star of the upcoming blockbuster “The Women” and well-respected actress claims that her ex-husband Dennis Quaid, an actor in his own right, was not faithful to their marriage. The two seperated in 2000 at the height of media interest in Ryan’s love affair with fellow actor Russel Crowe. The well-loved actress was better known as a harlot in those days, but has since regained a considerable reputation. But in a new interview in the October issue of “In Style” magazine, Ryan claims that wasn’t the real story.
“It was a great story,” she told the mag. “But what wasn’t in the story was the reality of my marriage for nine years. Dennis was not faithful to me for a long time, and that was very painful. I found out more about that once I was divorced.”
Meg Ryan recently made a comeback in the mind of the public, at least it seems so, when she agreed to star in an ensemble cast of actresses in “The Women”. Undoubtedly as the premier approaches Meg Ryan’s mistakes will be cast into the public sphere again and again. A little celebrity reputation management could go a long way in a situation like this, by minimizing the negative press. Then again, maybe it is Dennis Quaid who needs it…
For those who don’t know, Kylie Minogue is a vastly popular Australian pop-artist. Many have called her the counterpart to America’s Madonna. She has performed with some of the most popular pop-artists in America, Japan, and Australia—and has been a significant figure in the music arena since 1990 at least. You may remember her as the young woman who sang at the closing ceremony of the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games wearing a pink silk beaded corset and diamante headdress. I’m fairly sure I don’t even know what a diamante headdress is. Minogue has sold more than 60 million albums, and has been featured in an assortment of films and popular Australian TV shows—but she is not catching bad press because of her performances on the stage or on film. She is catching bad press because PETA, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, has listed her as “Worst Dressed of 2008” because she was seen carrying a python skin purse. The feathered boas and the elaborate headdresses do not matter—it is the fashionable purse made from questionable material that makes her sense of fashion abhorrent.
PETA had this to say on the subject:
“What does Kylie Minogue have in common with her python purse?” PETA asks on its website.
“They are both cold-blooded. Come on Kylie, it’s not cool to clutch an accessory made by nailing snakes to a tree and skinning them alive.”
Naturally, Ms. Minogue does not merit this award and is only under the gun because she is a popular celebrity and this will catch headlines for the PETA organization in Australia. She could use some “Celebrity Reputation Management“.
The next film in the Harry Potter series, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”, has delayed its debut from Nov. 21, 2008 to July 17, 2009. The film follows Harry Potter, a young and talented wizard played by Daniel Radcliffe. Rumors are now circulating that the movie was delayed due to Radcliffe’s involvement in the play Equus, in which he appears naked and even has a sexual fixation on horses. FoxNews’s blogger Roger Friedman has suggested a rediculous theory on why the movie’s debut was pushed back:
“Radcliffe appears naked in the play, on stage, and has sex in it as well. That’s not the image Warner Bros. wants associated with bespectacled Harry, who remains chaste and virginal. Indeed, posters for ‘Equus’ are up all over New York, of Radcliffe’s naked torso superimposed on a horse’s head. This is not the sort of of thing that’s taught at Hogwarts. For the movie to open on Nov. 21, Radcliffe would have to do publicity entailing answering questions about blinding horses and having sex with them vs. flying around and making potions.”
This ignores reality, though. Radcliffe was in the play this time last year and no one raised concerns. In fact, Radcliffe recieved praise for his acting skills in the play and the increased media attention probably served him well. A more likely scenario is this: The summer of 2009’s summer schedule was thin because of last winter’s writers strike, and the fall schedule was already full. Or, more simply, they thought there was more money in it.
Frankly, this rumor is only going to grow. Radcliffe will likely get some bad press because of the whole thing, and could probably use some “Celebrity Reputation Management“.

Christopher Knight, who played Peter in The Brady Bunch, is being tapped to host Trivial Pursuit: America Plays. Production for the show begins this week, and is based on the iconic 80’s Hasbro board game. A version of Trivial Pursuit hosted by Wink Martindale aired on the Family Channel from 1993 to 1995, but was eventually cancelled due to low ratings. Christopher Knight has enjoyed a recent resurgence in popularity because of a series of television appearances on reality shows and sitcoms. Knight was the co-star of a show entitled “My Fair Brady” about him and his wife possibly getting pregnant. He was also one of the major characters in the hit reality TV-show “Surreal Life”, where he actually met his aforementioned wife. Of course, Christopher Knight has appeared on other shows–including brief appearances on “Dirt” and “That 70s Show”. The show will likely feature a few Brady Bunch jokes too though:
“Chris is a charming, personable guy people really like, and we think people will tune in to see him because he is a brand,” said Lonnie Burstein, senior VP of programming for Debmar-Mercury. “I’m sure we’ll do some ‘Brady’ type things along the way to take advantage of that.”
